Veterinary Wellness Meets Warmth

Feline Focus

Wellness & Prevention

Regular preventive care stands as one of the most powerful tools in identifying and addressing health issues before they become more serious. Your cat's physical exam is not just an appointment – it's a valuable opportunity for consultations- where we can decipher their unique mannerisms and how those actually can reveal how they are feeling internally.

As a survival trait inherited from their wild ancestors, cats actually hide their pain because they do not want to show their vulnerability and attract predators. As such, subtle changes in behavior often serve as the first signs that something may be amiss. So, these personalized sessions enable us to conduct a comprehensive assessment of your cat's health, revealing any hidden concerns and allowing us to deliver customized care tailored to their specific needs.

By prioritizing these yearly checkups, you are ensuring that your feline friend can thrive to their fullest potential. We strive to build strong, collaborative relationships with pet owners as well as veterinary partners, in order to dedicate unparalleled healthcare for your cat.

Together, we are committed to elevating the standard of care for cats and the people who love them, ensuring a healthier, happier future for your family.

Diagnostics

\We understand that as a cat parent, you are the most passionate advocate for your feline friend's health and happiness. While our beloved cats may not always vocalize their needs, your attentive care is crucial in recognizing when something isn’t right.

That’s why our dedicated team is here to partner with you, offering expert guidance and comprehensive services to ensure your kitty thrives to their ultimate best. In addition to a thorough physical examination and consultation, we provide a variety of advanced in-house diagnostic services tailored specifically for your cat's individual health needs. Our state-of-the-art digital X-ray accurately diagnoses injuries, assessing stages of osteoarthritis, and addressing any respiratory or gastrointestinal concerns. By collaborating with top radiologists, we ensure precise interpretations of every image, allowing us to uncover internal issues such as obstructions, pneumonia, arthritis, tumors, and more.

Moreover, our ultrasound and echocardiogram services offer unmatched insight into your cat’s internal organs. These advanced imaging techniques allow us to examine conditions with incredible clarity, helping us identify inflammation — a common factor in many feline diseases that can lead to discomfort and pain.

We take pride in our partnerships with Franimals Solutions, a local privately-owned company, and Dr. Jessica Larson from Music City Pet Internal Medicine. Their expertise helps us design the most effective health plans tailored specifically for your cat, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care. Your feline companion deserves nothing less!

Dental Health

Unlike humans, cats don’t chew their food; they tend to grab bites and swallow them whole, especially when it comes to commercially prepared cat food. Their teeth are specially designed for tearing and ripping, which predisposes them to dental tartar buildup over time. Dental issues in cats are alarmingly common and can have serious repercussions for their health. Research from the Cornell University Feline Health Center reveals that a staggering 50-90% of cats over the age of four suffer from some form of dental disease. The good news? Most of these conditions are preventable or treatable with appropriate dental care and our vigilant monitoring.

Key dental problems in cats include gingivitis, periodontal disease, and tooth resorption. Gingivitis is linked to several serious health concerns, including FeLV, FIV, severe kidney disease, and diabetes. Some cats may suffer from a severe oral condition known as stomatitis which may stem from an adverse reaction to the bacteria and plaque present in their mouths. This condition can lead to intense pain and dramatically diminish a cat's quality of life. While humans develop cavities, cats face a different threat: resorptive lesions, the most frequently observed dental issues among felines. Tooth resorption involves the breakdown of a tooth’s structure from within, often resulting in the loss of the tooth crown while the root remains embedded in the gums.

We utilize full mouth radiographs because approximately 40% of dental diseases in felines are hidden beneath the gum line and can only be detected through dental X-rays. Once imaging is complete, our expert team takes special care to scale away any tartar buildup and thoroughly assess each tooth's condition.

To guarantee maximum safety during the cleaning process, we implement a carefully monitored light anesthesia protocol, with a dedicated anesthetic nurse supervising your cat throughout the entire procedure.  Vital signs—including heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, temperature, and blood oxygen levels—are continuously tracked and recorded. Prioritizing your cat's dental health is key for their well-being.

Surgery

Before any anesthetic procedure, we conduct a thorough assessment of your cat’s internal organ function, electrolytes, and blood cell count to ensure they are within a safe, healthy range for anesthesia. Our devoted team collaborates to understand your cat’s health condition fully. Each feline undergoes a comprehensive physical examination, which includes carefully listening to their heart and lungs to ensure they are fit for surgery. Based on their lab work and physical exam results, along with the specific procedure being performed, our experienced veterinarians create a customized anesthesia plan that prioritizes your cat’s safety and comfort.

Before the procedure, we administer premedications designed to help your cat relax while we place an IV catheter. Throughout the surgical process, your cat’s attentive nurse will continuously monitor vital signs—heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, temperature, and blood oxygen levels—ensuring that every aspect of your pet’s well-being is meticulously observed and recorded.

Each feline patient is intubated and maintained with gentle gas anesthesia, along with receiving an IV catheter and intravenous fluids. This approach not only stabilizes blood pressure but also aids your cat’s body in effectively metabolizing the anesthetic drugs for the smoothest recovery.

After the procedure, your beloved cat will recover in a cozy treatment room, with a compassionate nurse present to ensure they are safe, comfortable, and relaxed.Additionally, we partner with trusted specialists such as Blue Pearl Specialty Hospital, Nashville Veterinary Specialists, and APEX Surgical Center, so that you can rest assured that when it comes to your cat’s care, only the best, board-certified surgeons are involved. Your feline companion deserves nothing less than outstanding care at every step of their journey.
